I didn’t rely on all my historical financial data so much, I would have made the switch long ago. But I would never recommend to anyone to start using them today. Like many others, I’ve been using quicken for 20+ years. Three they are dealing with thousands of financial institutions that don’t really care about Quicken when they make changes to their systems.Īt the end of the day I just don’t see a way out of this death spiral for them.
Every time we try to add new things, ends up breaking old things and requires many rounds of patching. Two, they are using legacy code that is difficult to maintain and is very limiting in what they can do in terms of adding new features.

I fully support their move to the subscription model because it creates the recurring revenue they desperately need even though the cost ends up being higher for the end-user, it allows them to keep everyone on the latest version instead of having to support years of older software versions. One, I very much doubt they are attracting new users at any meaningful rate. It’s actually several different issues they are facing. Even before being spun off into an independent company. Quicken has been having problems for many years now.
